Shadow Systems is a brand with a special place in my heart, as I carried their pistols for years. At Shot Show 2026, the company finally pulled the wraps off something completely new – not just another slide cut or barrel update, but a brand-new pistol platform and a high-performance rifle system.

Axio Handgun

The Axio is a brand-new striker-fired platform – not a modified Glock-pattern gun – designed with the stated goal of delivering 2011-level shootability in a striker format. One of the biggest contributors to that is the slide design. The Axio has significantly more slide travel than Shadow’s previous pistols, which helps soak up recoil and slow the impulse. It should feel flatter and softer than you’d expect from a duty-sized striker gun.

Shadow is launching the Axio in two trim levels, the standard Axio and the Axio Pro, each with a choice of a 4 or 4.4-inch barrel. The Axio Pro gets the lighter trigger tuning, upgraded internal components, and additional refinements aimed more at competition or high-round-count shooters, while the standard Axio is more duty-oriented. Both use the same core system.

The trigger is drop-safe and adjustable from about 2-5 pounds.

The trigger is fully drop-safe, adjustable from roughly 2-5 pounds, and is completely different from Shadow’s previous designs. Another feature is the ability to field strip the gun without pulling the trigger, which is always a welcome safety upgrade.

Shadow Systems is targeting a May 2026 release for the Axio lineup, with expected street pricing in the $1,999 to $2,249 range, depending on trim and configuration.

AR-15 Builds

On the rifle side, Shadow introduced the U526 (16-inch) and E526 (11.5-inch) platforms. These aren’t off-the-shelf AR builds. Nearly every component was designed in-house, including the rail, ambidextrous controls, bolt carrier group, and trigger.

Shadow Systems designed its its RS625 titanium suppressor to pair with its new U526 (shown here) and E526 rifles.

The U526 uses a hybrid-profile, chrome-lined barrel with an intermediate gas system that keeps recoil smooth and consistent. Controls are fully ambidextrous, and the rifle ships with a clean two-stage trigger that breaks around 3.5 pounds. Shadow also showed its RS625 titanium suppressor, optimized for 5.56 and 6mm, designed to pair directly with the new rifles.

Rifle production is expected to begin around February to March 2026, with pistols following shortly after.
