New: Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Snub in .38 Special
Tennessee-based S&W this week marked over 70 years of Bodyguard series snub guns with the new Bodyguard 2.0.
The original Bodyguard wheel gun debuted in 1955 as a shrouded-hammer alloy-framed Airweight revolver .38, which later became the Model 38, with its steel-framed brother being the Model 49.
Fast-forward to 2026, and the new Bodyguard 2.0 carries much the same functionality that made the original model a favorite but incorporates several new features while sticking to a 14.2-ounce weight, bringing five shots of .38 SPL +P along for the ride.
With a 1.875-inch stainless-steel barrel and a one-piece aluminum alloy upper frame ending in a polymer boot-style grip, the new Bodyguard 2.0 keeps the weight down to under a pound. Meanwhile, its machined U-notch rear sight, paired with an orange Patridge-style front sight, aids in target acquisition in varied light conditions. (Photos: S&W)
An ambidextrous, center-mounted cylinder release allows for easy operation with either hand, supporting intuitive use for both right and left-handed shooters. It has an 8-pound double-action-only trigger.
The Bodyguard 2.0 is also available with an integrated factory-installed Crimson Trace red laser.
The MSRP on the new S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is $449, while the laser-equipped model runs $549.
